IC 443 The Jellyfish Nebula
This object is what was left over after an ancient supernova explosion. It is about 5000 light years from earth. The photons captured by my camera left this object around the time the Sumerians built the cities of Uruk and Ur, the first writing emerged in Mesopotamia, the wheel was first used to make life easier, and the first ditch around what would become Stonehenge was being excavated.
This photo was taken from my rooftop northwest of Chicago in November of 2024. I used a Redcat61 refractor telescope, and this is the equivalent of about 13.6 hours of exposure time.
