NGC 2244 The Rosette Nebula
A 130-light-year-wide cavity carved by the fierce stellar winds of newborn stars at its heart. The Rosette, 5,000 light-years away in Monoceros, is a stellar nursery on a grand scale — and this SHO (Hubble) palette version maps sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen emissions to gold and teal, revealing the layered architecture of the gas. What looks delicate is anything but: this is star formation at industrial scale.
Captured by Tom Stahr — 15.4 hours integration · RedCat 61 · Starfront Observatories, Texas.
This poster has a partly glossy, partly matte finish and it'll add a touch of sophistication to any room.
• 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick
• Slightly glossy
• Fingerprint resistant
• Paper sourced from Japan
