NGC 2244 The Rosette Nebula
This star forming complex contains more than 2500 young stars. It is about 5200 light years from earth. The photons captured by my camera left this object around the time the Sumerians built the cities of Uruk and Ur, the first writing emerged in Mesopotamia, the wheel was first used to make life easier, and the first ditch around what would become Stonehenge was being excavated.
This photo was taken from a remote location in Central Texas in January of 2025. I used a Redcat61 refractor telescope, and this is the equivalent of about 15.4 hours of exposure time.
